Occupational research activity

Part C: Determine your level of interest (I)

Instructions

Review your list of occupations, then select your next step from the lists outlined in the Option 1 and Option 2 boxes below.

Option 1

You are not interested in the options so far.

  • If you are not interested in any of the occupations researched so far, but have not exhausted all possibilities on your original list of occupations, review and select others of possible interest; then go back to the last step to complete research on these occupations.

Part B: Complete your occupational research

  • If you have exhausted all possibilities from your original list, consider other options generated through your research to date then return to the previous step of this activity to complete your research on them.

Part B: Complete your occupational research

  • If you have exhausted all possibilities from your original list of occupations and cannot think of other occupations of interest, you may wish to book an appointment for “Career exploration/decision making” through Centre for Career Development.

Option 2

You are still interested in your researched occupations.

  • Move to the next step to get a more in-depth picture of occupations you are still considering and to fill in any gaps in your knowledge.

Part D: Setting up an information interview

  • If you are convinced that you already have a thorough understanding of each of these occupations and don’t feel that the Information interview activities will add to your knowledge (e.g., you are considering being a teacher and your parents are both teachers), skip ahead to Part F of this activity to select three occupations.

Part F: Choose three occupations
